August 2022 Newsletter

We have enjoyed meeting so many of you at the Joint Ivy Alum Night at the SF Opera in June, and at our outdoor events in Saratoga and Mount Diablo in July.  For the month of August, we have organized a number of outdoor, in-person events, including the Annual World Dog Surfing Championship, as well as the inaugural joint Ivy Summer Vineyard Party at Folktale Winery.  Stay safe and we look forward to seeing you soon! 

New Events

Volunteer at the Annual World Dog Surfing Championship

Date:  Saturday, August 6, 2022

Time:  8:00 AM - Noon PDT

Location:  5000 Pacific Coast Highway, Pacifica, CA, 94044

Do you have a pet that enjoys water sports? Come join Columbia alums who will be volunteering at the annual World Dog Surfing Championship at Pacifica this summer!

Although the live surfing event will only span a few hours, there will be plenty of other dog-related competitions and activities that will last into the evening.

 

Learn How to Identify and Manage Stress

Date:  Wednesday, September 14, 2022

Time:  12:00 PM - 12:45 PM PDT

Location:  Via Zoom

In this interactive experiential talk you will learn from Dr. Ellen Leonard steps to identify stress and science-based strategies to start to manage stress in a way that works for you. You will leave having practiced multiple stress management strategies and with actionable tools to stress less.

IVY Summer Vineyard Party

Date:  Saturday, August 13, 2022

Time:  Noon - 3:00 PM PDT

Location:  Folktale Winery & Vineyards, 8940 Carmel Valley Rd, Carmel-by-the-Sea

Join the fun with fellow Ivy alums at Folktale Winery in beautiful Carmel this August. Come for the day or make a weekend trip around this special event. Meet Gregory Ahn (CBS 05), founder and proprietor of the winery.  Live music, lawn games, and delicious food will accompany the award-winning wines of Folktale. Tickets include food, fun, and your first glass of wine. Additional glasses or bottles can be purchased at the event.

Bay Area Book Club

With many of the events being virtual for the time being, the regional book clubs will be combined for now. Starting this month, the book club meetings will take place on the last Wednesday of every other month at 7pm PST.
